Recycling Practice and Policies
Basura Bash is committed to responsible recycling. Some materials are too dirty to recycle by the time volunteers retrieve them from the creeks, but we strive to direct as much as possible to local recyclers who donate their services to Basura Bash.
Annual Basura Bash Recycling Resources
Q: Where do the Recyclable Items we separate from the debris go?
A: Our sponsor, GreenStar is providing the services to recycle all the plastic bottle and aluminum cans that the volunteers pick up during the Annual Basura Bash Clean Up.
Q: Where do Electronic items brought to Mission County Park end up?
A: Corona Visions is providing the services to disassemble and recycle all the components of the electrical appliances and electronic gizmos brought in by Basura Bash volunteers.
Q: How are the Tires Recycled? What's new with Tire Disposal?
A: In 2010, new Basura Bash Sponsor Firestone will donate the tire disposal for the entire CleanUp. All the tires will be delivered directly to Firestone by the gents from the City of San Antonio Municipal Solid Waste Management Department. Thanks to both Firestone and the City of San Antonio.
Q: And Metal Wastes? Are they Recycled?
A: Yes, larger metal items like car wheels and such are collected and sent to the metal recyclers.
During the rest of the year, a good source of information for Recycling in San Antonio is the City of San Antonio Solid Waste Management Department Recycling Options and Drop-Off Centers listing.

Our local (Keep San Antonio Beautiful) and state (Keep Texas Beautiful) Affiliates of Keep America Beautiful are also very knowledgable about local and regional recycling programs.
